Management means the substitution of knowledge
for folkways & superstition, and of cooperation for force.
It means the substitution of responsibility for obedience
to rank, and of authority of
performance for the authority of rank. -Peter Drucker
The Foundations of Management program is a collaborative
professional development program sponsored by the Colleges
of the Fenway, MASCO and Suffolk University . The program
was initiated to recognize excellence and to cultivate high-performance
managers. It consists of six sessions with a uniquely customized
curriculum, facilitated by the Phillips Group, highly regarded
trainers and consultants. The overall goal is to develop and
strengthen vital management skills including team-building,
effective communication, and coaching. The program also provides
each participant with the invaluable opportunity to meet and
learn from colleagues at the other institutions.
The nature of the program dictates that participants commit
to attending all six sessions and completing brief exercises
between each session. Lunch will be served at each session.
To recognize the participants’ accomplishments, we encourage
supervisors to attend a celebration on the final day.
For more information about the Foundations of Management
program, ask your supervisor of your human resources representative.
