HOW TO CROSS REGISTER
Cross Registration Policies & Procedures
Cross registration provides full time undergraduates of the
Colleges of the Fenway with the opportunity to take two courses
per semester at any of the six institutions at no additional
tuition charge. Cross registration provides students with
advantages of a small college, but exposes them to resources
similar to a large university. This enables students to broaden
both their intellectual and social capacities, and introduces
them to faculty, research, colleagues and curricula they would
not otherwise have experienced. Students may cross register
for fall, spring and where applicable, summer courses (MassArt
does not participate in summer cross registrations).
HOW TO CROSS REGISTER
Cross Registration Forms are available in all registrars’
offices. See your registrar for complete information
1. Advisor and student discuss cross registration plans.
A searchable database of all courses open for cross registration
can be found at www.colleges-fenway.org/coursedirectory/
2. Student completes the cross registration form and selects
one or two alternative courses in the event that the first
choice is filled.
3. Advisor signs the form for all cross registration selections.
Some colleges require additional signatures; the student should
check with the home registrar for additional information.*
4. The student brings the completed form to his/her home
registrar, who must sign the form for approval if there
are no restrictions or holds. Some colleges also require approval
from the business office and other campus officials.
5. During the designated cross registration period, the student
must bring the form in person to the host institution’s
registrar and cross registration will be confirmed if
there is space available in the class. The student must
then return a copy of the approved form to the home registrar
in order to complete the process.
6. Cross registrations submitted after the designated cross-registration
period will be processed according to the individual registration
schedules of each member institution of the Colleges of the
Fenway. Students should check with the registrar’s office
of the host institution to determine when their registration
will be processed.
7. Students who wish to drop a course must complete the paperwork
with their host institution and, in some cases, the home
institution as well. Students should check with home registrar’s
office for specific procedures.
* Students are responsible for ensuring that they meet all
pre-requisite requirements.
COURSE AVAILABILITY:
Courses are open for cross registration on a seat
available basis. Each college’s home students have first option
to register for courses. There may be courses opening up for
cross-registration during the add-drop period that are not
listed during registration. Check the COF Academic Calendar
for specific add/drop deadlines. The cross registration database
will be updated every Friday during cross registration periods.
PARKING:
Parking is not available for students cross registering
between institutions.
