NUMBERING AND GRADING SYSTEM FOR THE COLLEGES OF THE FENWAY

Course Numbering: The institutions use the following course numbering systems:

Emmanuel – The first digit of the course number indicates level.
0 – Non-credit work
1 – Undergraduate introductory
2 – Undergraduate intermediate
3 – Undergraduate advanced (Includes undergraduate seminars)
4 – Undergraduate independent or directed study/research/internship
5 – Graduate (not open for cross-registration)

MassArt
100 – Freshmen level
200 – Sophomore leve
300 – Junior level
400 – Senior level
500 – Masters level (not open for cross-registration)

MCPHS
100 – First-year/Introductory
200 – Second year
300 – Third year
400 – Fourth year
500/600 – Advanced
700 – Dual (undergraduate/graduate)
800 – Graduate only (not open for cross-registration)

Simmons
100 – First-year/Introductory
200 – Intermediate
300 – Advanced
400 – Graduate (not open to cross-registration)

Wentworth
100 and 200 – First and second year courses
300 – All levels
400+ – Junior and senior level

Wheelock
100 – Includes children and their environments, first-year seminars, and the college requirements
200 – Introductory/intermediate courses in the arts and sciences and professional studies
300 – Specialized courses in arts and sciences and professional studies
400 – Core requirements in curriculum and methods, seminars that accompany student teaching/practicum experience and independent study, honors tutorial, and individualized plans of study
500 – Graduate (not open to cross registration)
