HOW TO CROSS REGISTER
Cross Registration Forms are available in all registrars’ offices or click here
- Student completes the cross registration form and selects one or two alternative
courses in the event that the first choice is filled.
- Advisor signs the form for all cross registration selections. Some colleges require additional signatures; the student should check with the home registrar for
additional information. Students are responsible for ensuring that they meet
all pre-requisite requirements. See school specific procedures for
Mass Art and
Design, MCPHS and WIT below.
- The student brings the completed form to his/her home registrar, who
must sign the form for approval if there are no restrictions or holds. Some
colleges also require approval from the business office and other campus
officials.
- During the designated cross registration period, the student must bring
the form in person to the host institution’s registrar and cross registration
will be confirmed if there is space available in the class.
The student must then return a copy of the approved form to the home
registrar in order to complete the process.
- Cross registrations submitted after the designated cross-registration period
will be processed according to the individual registration schedules of each
member institution of the Colleges of the Fenway. Students should check with
the registrar’s office of the host institution to determine when their registration
will be processed.
- Students who wish to drop a course must complete the paperwork with their
host institution and, in some cases, the home institution as well.
Students should check with home registrar’s office for specific procedures.
- School specific procedures: for Mass Art and Design, MCHS and WIT:
Mass Art and Design:
- Advisor’s signature is not needed
- The business office needs to sign after the registrar’s office signs and before
the student goes to the host institution
- The student is encouraged to return the form, however, they are not required to
do so. The student is informed that they will not be registered for a cross
registered course in the Mass Art and Design office until the information is
received from the host institution that the student is, in fact, enrolled.
MCPHS:
- If the cross registered course credit is being used toward an elective for
graduation – a signature is required from the Chair of the department for that
discipline.
- If the student has only 10 credits and the COF course would put them at 13
(the flat rate amount), the student has to be cleared through Student Financial
Services.
- When the student returns the form back from the host institution, the Registrar
makes sure to note whether or not the course is being taken for Pass/Fail or
a letter grade. Once the student has determined how it is being taken, they can
not change the grading structure.
WIT:
- Advisor’s signature is not needed
- Student must be cleared through Student Financial Services
- If the cross registered course is being taken for graduation requirement credit –
the student must obtain the Department Chair’s signature
