General Information
A. Open to all students, faculty, and staff within the Colleges
of the Fenway. All participants mush show a valid school ID
to participate.
B. Please wear the appropriate athletic shoes with non-marking
soles.
C. There will be men's, women's and co-rec divisions.
Each player may play for only ONE men's team or women's team and/or one co-rec team.
D. The format will be a double-elimination tournament.
The Game
A. Each team should provide their own basketball. Team captains
will decide which ball to use for the game. A game ball will
be provided by the Intramural Sports supervisor if necessary.
B. A scorekeeper will keep score at each court.
C. 3 on 3 is a half court game. Teams will consist of 3
players each, with a maximum of 1 substitute.(Co-rec teams must have at least 1 female on the court at all times.) A team may play
a game with 2 players but if at any time that number is reduced
to less than 2, that team will receive a forfeit. Each substitute
may be added at any time during the tournament.
D. Substitutes during the game will only be allowed during
dead ball situations or after a made basket.
E. Games will be to 15 points straight out. There will be
a 15-minute time limit on each game. If a team has not reached
15 by the time limit, the winner will be the team that has
the most points. If tied, next basket wins.
F. Teams will be awarded 1 time out per game. The length
of the time out shall not exceed 30 seconds.
G. Starting Ball possession will be decided by a miss or
make shot by a pre-determined member of either team. If that
player makes the shot, his or her team gets the ball. If that
player misses, the other team will get the ball.
H. Teams have to pass the ball in.
I. When the defense rebounds the ball, the ball must be
cleared behind the three-point line before he/she may attempt
a shot. Both feet must be clearly behind the line or a violation
will result. On defensive rebounds or steals, the ball must
be returned to the check line and the player in possession
of the ball may retain it and attempt to score. Any deviation
from this will result in a violation. On a converted basket,
the team in possession of the ball behind the check line must
check the ball with the opposing team before putting the ball
in play.
J. If the offense rebounds their own shot, they may put
the ball back up towards the basket without clearing the ball.
K. Ball possession will change teams after each basket unless
a foul is awarded.
L. After all out-of-bounds situations, play will begin beyond
the check line.
M. Each basket will count for 1 point. Baskets made beyond
the 3-point arc will count for 2 points.
N. Protests/disputes concerning interpretations of the rules,
fouls, or score, must be settled on the spot, at the time
of the protest/dispute.
O. National Federation High School Basketball Rules will
be used where applicable.
P. Intramural staff can and will remove players from the
game.
Q. Every attempt will be made to have a court monitor to
assist in recording team fouls. If no person is available,
teams will also be asked to track team fouls.
FOULING
A. THE PLAYER THAT GETS FOULED WILL CALL THE FOULS.
B. If there is a dispute between opposing teams on a foul,
the Head Officials/Supervisors will give the teams 1-MINUTE
to settle the dispute. If it is not settled in the 1-MINUTE,
BOTH TEAMS WILL FORFEIT THE GAME.
C. If a foul occurs, the ball will be checked behind the
top of the key at the three-point line by the team that made
the foul.
D. On and after the 7th team foul, teams will be awarded
a 1 shot free throw and retain possession of the ball.
