Rules

All play will be governed by the National Federation of State High School Association Rules.

General Information

Format: Teams will be placed in pools and will compete against each team in their pool. Following pool play, a single elimination tournament will take place involving all teams who have not forfeitted during league play. Teams' pool play records will determine their seedings. All matches will be held in the Yawkey Center at Emmanuel College and Tansey Gymnasium at Wentworth.

Eligibility:

All players:

1. May play for only one men's or women's team and/or one co-intramural team.

2. Must be a student or faculty/staff member at one of the Colleges of the Fenway.

Scheduling: Teams should arrive 15 minutes prior to game time. A team not signed-in and ready to play at game time will forfeit the game.

Game results: Results will be posted by noon following the day of the game. Team captains should check the World Wide Web to make sure the score of the game has been recorded correctly. Any discrepancies in the score must be notified via email to Brad Tittrington.

RULES

National Federation of State High School Association Rules will be in effect except for the following modifications.

A. Equipment

Teams are encouraged to bring their own volleyball(s), however; there are Intramural volleyballs available for checkout.
Illegal Equipment includes:

a. A team can play with a minimum of 3 females (2 if playing with only 4 or 5 players).
A team can play with no less than 4 players.

OPTION II: Entire Team Rotation-

A substitute rotates into a designated position whenever a rotation occurs.

D. The Game:

A match shall consist of best two out of three games. Each game is played to 30, win by 2.
A point will be scored on every serve. If team A is serving and Team B wins the rally, then team B wins a point and the serve.
Each team is allowed 1 30-second time-out per game.
The official will keep the official score sheet.
Servers may serve from anywhere behind the end line.
