There is no charge for COF faculty and staff attendees. For outside participants, the cost for Thursday, October 25 is $20, and the cost for Friday, October 26 is $50. Please bring a check made out to Colleges of the Fenway with you to the conference.

Teaching for Understanding with Technology

Keynote Speaker Dr. Stone Wiske
Harvard Graduate School of Education

Dr. Stone Wiske is a lecturer at the Harvard Graduate School of Education with a focus on the integration of new technologies to enhance teaching, learning, and professional development.  She teaches graduate courses on curriculum design and use of networked technologies to enhance performance.  Wiske led design of the Education with New Technologies web site at http://learnweb.harvard.edu/ent and is the co-founder of WIDE World http://wideworld.gse.harvard.edu, an online professional development program based at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. WIDE World promotes application of educational research through professional communities and interactive online courses to help teachers, coaches, and school leaders strengthen teaching, learning, and systemic transformation in schools. It has served over 7000 educators in nearly 100 countries, with significant initiatives in the US, South America, Australia, Africa, China, Scotland, and Southeast Asia.  Wiske co-edited Software Goes to School (Oxford University Press, 1995), edited Teaching for Understanding: Linking Research with Practice (Jossey-Bass, 1998), and co-authored Teaching for Understanding with Technology (Jossey-Bass, 2005).

Keynote Speaker Erin B. Reilly
Research Manager, Project New Media Literacies, MIT

Erin B. Reilly (MFA) is co-founder of Platform Shoes Forum (PSF), a non-profit organization that researches and develops online educational programs and e-learning environments for youth. She is co-creator of PSF’s model program Zoey’s Room, a national online community for 10-14 year-old girls, encouraging their creativity through science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).  Zoey's Room has proven results in advancing STEM and Media Literacy skills.  In 2007, Erin received a national educational Leaders in Learning Award from Cable in the Classroom for her innovative approach to learning through Zoey's Room. A recognized expert in the design and development of thought-provoking and engaging educational content powered by virtual learning and new media applications, Erin has been a featured speaker, panelist and keynoter at several industry events.
