Fall 2017 Teaching & Learning Conference Recap

Nearly 100 COF faculty and staff attended this year’s Teaching & Learning Conference, held on Thursday, November 2 at Emmanuel College. This year’s Teaching & Learning Conference featured the work of Dr. Linda B. Nilson. Dr. Linda B. Nilson is director emerita of the Office of Teaching Effectiveness and Innovation (OTEI) at Clemson University and author of Teaching at Its Best: A Research-Based Resource for College Instructors, now in its fourth edition (Jossey-Bass, 2016). Dr. Nilson presented two workshops during the day-long program: “Self-Regulated Learning: Active Learning on the Inside” and “Ensuring and Assessing the Learning in Authentic Experiential Learning.” Conference attendees shared the following feedback: “The information I gleaned from this conference will help me when I approach my students with suggestions on their study habits and responsibility for their own learning.” “The best part of the conference was the opportunity for professional development.” “I really liked the first session of the day as I found the information extremely valuable to my role.” A big thank you to our Faculty Development Committee!
