COF Welcomes New Director of Intramurals and Recreational Sports

Marc Taney, COF Director of Intramurals

Marc Taney joined COF on September 4 as the new Director of Intramurals and Recreational Sports. In this role, Marc is responsible for oversight and direction of the over 20 offerings supported by the Colleges of the Fenway. Additionally, Marc will provide leadership for the rollout of the new Esports program launching this fall.

Marc arrives at the Colleges of the Fenway after spending the last three years at Newbury College. While at Newbury he served in multiple roles across the campus, including Head Coach Women’s Basketball, Director of Basketball Operations, multiple support roles in the athletic department, and in the past year as Coordinator of Community Conduct within the Student Affairs Department. 

Marc’s involvement at Newbury included mentorship roles within Student Affairs for the EmpowerMENt program, representing the Athletic Department on the hiring committee for the Vice President of Enrollment, and supporting admissions initiatives by attending multiple Admissions Recruiting events across the country. 

In addition to his work in higher education, Marc serves as a Basketball Camp Director for Nike/US Sports camps. He has successfully started and grown overnight camps for Nike in Connecticut at the Woodstock Academy and most recently at The Ethel Walker School.  

Prior to Newbury, Marc attended Springfield College as a graduate student earning his Master of Science degree. While at Springfield he taught athletic activity courses, assisted with coaching in the women’s basketball program, represented the college overseas providing basketball instruction for two consecutive summers in Hong Kong at Hong Kong Baptist University as well as Guangzhou University in Guangzhou China. 

As a non-traditional student, Marc earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Western Connecticut State University graduating summa cum laude and his Master of Science Degree in Sport Management from Springfield College. In his spare time, he enjoys remaining active by golfing, fishing and playing basketball.
